SWH kicked off with Episode 1 in April new ones coming out every Monday morning at 7 a.m.

The first 11 episodes

Episode #011 – How our criminal justice system obstructs media access
"We are just a pain in the ass and they don't want to hear from us."
Canada’s open-court principle is meaningless if those in charge treat journalists as irritating interlopers. And they do, every single day. Journalists who cover the criminal justice system and courts from across Canada recently took part in a meeting to share stories of being denied access to public documents, shut out of virtual hearings they have every right to attend, and daily intentional and unintentional efforts to block the public from finding out information they have every legal right to hear about.

Episode #010 – Taser use in a world full of cameras
Tikaani Rhys was in Salish Park in downtown Chilliwack in July 2025 when she saw an RCMP officer interacting with some First Nations men who were drinking beer. The conversation escalated to the point where the officer had a man on the ground, kneed him in the back as he tried to handcuff him. Tikaani didn't like what she saw so she approached and asked questions. But she ended up not only getting arrested but Tasered, too. This week on Something Worth Hearing I show a video of the incident to co-producer Atlee James, also to friend of the podcast and lawyer Kyla Lee of Acumen Law, and I talk to both of them and to Tikaani about police use of force, mental health, safety, and our culture of surveillance where everything we do is caught on video.

Episode #009 – Alberta separatism is impossible & a right-wing win-win
This week I travelled to Alberta to talk about separatism. Turns out, no one there wants to talk about it so I talked to podcast friend, lawyer Kyla Lee, who explains how impossible it is for a province to leave confederation.
Important stuff. Have a listen.

Episode #008 –  Is the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal working or not?
In this week's episode, Paul takes a deep dive into the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal to explain what it is, how it works, and why it exists.
Then in the second half, he and Vancouver lawyer Kyla Lee discuss whether the tribunal is an important entity protecting people from discrimination or whether it is a kangaroo court as critics claim?
You'll want to hear what they have to say.

Episode #007 – Why gang murders are so hard to solve
Firefighters extinguish a vehicle fire on a remote road and find a body inside. It's an all too common script for police agencies investigating organized crime killings. With no willing witnesses, scant evidence, and public interest focused on murders of actual innocent people, it's no wonder so many gang hits go unsolved. This week Paul discusses a few such cases in the Fraser Valley.

Episode #006 – Getting Personal: Paul visits 'Murica & fights a defamation lawsuit
A different episode this week talking about two days in BC Supreme Court as Paul tries to get a defamation lawsuit tossed out under the province's anti-SLAPP legislation. And also, is it OK to go to the U.S.? (Spoiler alert: Ya, chill out.)

Episode #005 – Abbotsford's Mother's Day murders
Three international students from India are convicted of first-degree murder for a horrific home invasion and killing of a couple in their 70s. In this episode, Paul outlines some of the terrible details from the courtroom and talks to Vancouver lawyer Kyla Lee about the case along with some of the underlying legal issues at play.

Episode #004 – Charter for Dummies
Paul Henderson talks with co-producer Atlee James in the first half of this week's episode, then dives in with Vancouver lawyer Kyla Lee about clearing up some of the questions from dumb and dumber.

Episode #003 – Diving into the Homicide Map with Vancouver lawyer Kyla Lee
Taking a closer look at the half dozen local homicides currently before the courts looking at some of the facts and legal principles.

Episode #002 – The Homicide Map
A first introduction to the macabre murder map, the backdrop of most episodes is the map Paul created showing victims and locations of every murder in the last 20 years in the Chilliwack area. Somebody knows something.

Episode #001 – Intro to the Podcast
In this episode, co-producer and filmmaker Atlee James sits down with Paul to introduce the podcast about unsolved homicides, key elements of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, B.C. Human Rights Tribunal decisions, and other legal matters
