Most Canadian moment ever? Mounties arrest a beaver at Canada Post office in Hope
Why did the beaver cross the road?
In a story so Canadian it smelled of maple syrup and politeness, Mounties in Hope recently dealt with a beaver on the road in Hope in front of the Canada Post office.
A driver was heard complaining about the “dam traffic” as RCMP officers responded with a level of calm professionalism that can only come from years of bear-related experience.
“Hope RCMP members recently rescued a wandering beaver when this little engineer decided to cross the road instead of building a dam,” according to a Chilliwack RCMP social media post.
“With a little teamwork (and a lot of gentle encouragement), our furry friend was safely brought back to the Fraser River – because we are all about traffic flow and river flow!”

With Canada Post now on rotating strikes, another Canadian tradition, letter carriers were not picketing in front of the Hope outlet. If they were, the moment would have been so Canadian as to rip apart the space-time continuum.
Locals quickly dubbed it “the most Canadian moment ever,” narrowly beating out last winter’s incident when someone used a snowmobile to deliver Tim Hortons to stranded commuters.
The beaver declined to comment on either the incident or the painful Canadian clichés and metaphors above.
In AI-related news, a ChatGPT bot was asked to write an answer to the joke question, "Why did the beaver cross the road?" but after three terrible tries the important computer challenge was abandoned because this:
1. Because the dam traffic was backed up.
2. Because he heard the grass was greener on the otter side.
3. Because he wanted to prove he gave a dam.
