UPDATE: IHIT investigating possible homicide involving a vehicle fire in Bridal Falls area late Sunday night
Investigators on scene Monday where a body was found after vehicle fire on Cheam Road with 'criminality suspected'
Homicide investigators were on scene on a road off Bridal Falls Road near Highway 1 east of Chilliwack Monday (July 27, 2025) morning after an incident Sunday night.
A witness reported to Something Worth Reading the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was on the scene along with the BC Coroners Service, other RCMP members including the police dog unit.
Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi confirmed at 3:30 p.m. that Agassiz RCMP attended after a report of a vehicle fire where one person was located deceased and "criminality is suspected."
The body was discovered after a vehicle fire was extinguished on Cheam Road off Page Road, which is right near Bridal Falls Road in the area just east of Chilliwack.

The area surrounding the scene was cordoned off late Sunday and will continue to be for a significant amount of time, according to a statement issued by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which has taken conduct of the investigation.
"Police are currently in the early stages of this investigation and are actively working with Agassiz RCMP and Chilliwack RCMP to gather evidence and further the investigation," the IHIT statement said. "At this time, no further details will be provided."
Investigators are asking anyone who may have dash camera footage from the areas of Cheam Road and Bridal Falls Road between July 27 8 p.m and July 28 2 a.m. to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
