John Patrick Davy taught at Greendale Elementary when found with more than 27,000 images of child porn, now goes by Jason John Davey

February 13, 2026

Chilliwack elementary school teacher John Patrick Davy was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail for possession and distribution of child pornography in 2014.

Now, the 55-year-old faces another count of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, this time for an alleged incident in Kelowna last summer, Something Worth Reading has learned.

In what was clearly an attempt to avoid his history of sexual deviance, Davy moved away, added “Jayson,” put John as his middle name, and added a “e” to to his last name. Now we have Jayson John Davey charged last month with a single count of possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material for an alleged incident in July 2025.

A member of the Davy family that owned Pick-A-Part with it’s famous pink car sign at the auto-wrecking business in East Chilliwack, John Patrick Davy was also a well-liked teacher at Greendale Elementary sign.

Davy, now Davey, goes by "JD Quizman" on Facebook and was running "Tremendous Trivia," which puts on pub quizzes across the Okanagan and beyond, according to a Feb. 13, 2026 story on Infotel. That company told reporter Ben Bulmer it was unaware of Davey's past and he was fired.

According to his Facebook page, he took a trip to the Philippines last April from which he shared several photos.

Davey was arrested and released on bail in provincial court in Kelowna on Jan. 6, 2026, but he was a no-show for his first appearance scheduled on Jan. 12 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He did then appear Jan. 13, Feb. 3, and is next due in court on Feb. 24 to see if he has a lawyer.

Chilliwack court plea for forgiveness in 2014

I was in courtroom 203 at the Chilliwack Law Courts almost 12 years ago on May 27, 2014, as Davy stood in the prisoner’s box in his corrections-issued orange jumpsuit, hands shaking, holding back tears as he read a statement at the fourth day of his sentencing hearing.

He said he was privileged to teach at the “country school”  in a “tightly-knit by a sense of shared values of faith and services to others.”

Pointing out how he was invited into their homes and churches, Davy gushed a shallow apology to those in Greendale.

“I am deeply anguished by your collective anger and disappointment, and live in hope that one day you will allow a measure of forgiveness in your heart for my actions.”

As I wrote back then, the “actions” that he downplayed included downloading, viewing and sharing child pornography images that included victims as young as two years old, according to the RCMP forensic investigator Sgt. Lorena Rostie.

When Davy was first arrested, he was caught by police trying to hide an external hard drive into an attic access in his bedroom. Also seized were a laptop, computer tower and a bag with a towel and girl’s bikini inside.

A search of the hard drive and computers turned up more than 27,000 child porn images, 866 videos and 600 text files with pornographic stories about children as well as 32,572 images of naked or partly naked children and almost 67,000 “child-relevant” images.

Davy is a pedophile of the highest order, a narcissist who asked the sheriff to hand me his hand-written statement.

Why? So I could print his manifesto word for word in the newspaper?  As many narcissists who contact the media with what they think is compelling and important self-affirming information, he didn’t understand how it works. To tell any story, it’s important to try to hear from all sides, in this case to get a bit of balance despite the horror of what he did, but subjects of stories, no matter who they are, don’t get to control the narrative.

After all that in 2014, arrested, charged and released under strict conditions, Davy was then found in Kelowna on Sept. 12, 2014, with a computer that had more than 1,000 child porn images, 321 photos of naked or partly naked children that did not meet the definition of child porn, and 668 child-relevant images.

There was a delay in the sentencing hearing, because Davy’s lawyer Martin Finch suggested Davy’s risk should be assessed at “low” rather than “moderate to low” as per a forensic psychologist.

💡
Martin Finch's name will be familiar to court watchers as it has appeared often in the media as a defender of pedophiles, sex offenders, and men accused with child porn in the Eastern Fraser Valley. Some examples: Corey Neyrinck, Don Putt, and Reinhard 'Bud' Loewen who were convicted, and Codie Anderson and Ian Meissner who were acquitted.

Crown counsel at the time, Andrea Ormiston, who is now a BC Supreme Court Justice, called Finch’s hired psychologist’s claims that Davy prefers adult women as “perplexing,” pointing to a story Davy wrote how he fantasized about sexually assaulting a child. Davy had a bucket list that included the desire to have sex with a child, and the “vast collection” of child pornography that included no adult sexual images.

Davy complained that he was “blindsided and knocked down by a vicious punch when inmates inadvertently learned of my charges.” What he apparently didn’t understand is the rule behind bars that being a pedophile is not good, but lying about it is what really gets you into violent trouble.

Judge's words in 2014

Jayzon John Davey, then John Patrick Davy, offered up no emotion in Chilliwack Court on May 27, 2014, as Judge Roger Cutler handed down the sentence.

Cutler said that while there was no breach of trust in the legal sense in that Davy was a Grade 6 teacher at Greendale elementary school, his role as an educator made the case particularly disturbing.

“There can be no doubt that his position as a teacher is regarded as an aggravating factor,” Cutler said.

The judge said the “great paradox” of the case, and something that defied comprehension, was how a man with a “stellar reputation” as a teacher and who had made considerable contributions to the community could simultaneously be downloading and trading images and videos of children as young as infants being sexually assaulted.

“This ultimately self-ruinous conduct is perplexing to all of those concerned with this case including the defendant,” Cutler told the court.

Cutler sentenced Davy to 26 months in jail for distribution of child pornography, 24 months to be served concurrently for possession of child pornography and an additional four months to be served consecutively for a breach of undertaking charge, for the child porn he was found with in Kelowna.

Davy also has to provide a DNA sample and was added to the national sex offender registry.

Beyond the probationary period, Cutler also ordered a 10-year ban on Davy attending parks, playgrounds and pools. The judge said that while there is no evidence Davy has ever acted out his fantasies with children, the community needed to be protected.

“The court must guard against the accused’s fantasies becoming a reality until such time as the accused is treated,” he said.

Finch asked for a sentence of 12 to 18 months in custody including time served.

Judge Cutler stated that Davy had never acted out on his child sexual fantasies. And Finch similarly asserted during sentencing submissions on June 6 that despite teaching for 16 years, he had “never” had anyone come forward with an accusation of being touched.

In 2009, however, three female Grade 6 students at Greendale elementary did indeed complain about being touched by Davy.

The case was never forwarded to the RCMP for investigation because the school district rejected the student’s complaints after an internal investigation.

The mother of one of the girls who alleged Davy touched her told me she was threatened by the school district with legal action if she spoke out, an accusation never confirmed.
